  1. How many credits may I take?
Students may take 6 - 8 credit hours per summer session.

  2. What is the fee?
The 2005 program fee is $3,340.

  3. Is this a discounted rate?
The program fee is an incredible deal. Normal tuition costs alone for the summer are $725 per credit hour.

  4. What exactly does the fee cover?
The fee covers your tuition for six to eight credits in one summer session, your room and meals, a personal coach and facilitated study clinics. Most social and educational activities are part of the Transitions experience and are covered. Small contributions towards extra activities may be requested.

  5. Will my financial aid cover the fee?
Financial aid does not cover the fee because you are not considered a matriculated SU student until the fall semester. Specific questions regarding financial assistance can be answered by contacting our Financial Aid Opportunity Programs office at (315) 443-1513.

  6. Do I have to live in the residence hall? Transitions is a part of a summer learning community. It is required that you live in the hall unless you petition to be exempt from this requirement. For more information regarding the exemption criteria, please talk with the Transitions staff.

  7. Will I get a roommate?
The Transitions Program works very hard at keeping students in single accommodations without roommates. A six-week session is intense and we want you to be academically successful. Single accommodations are, however, on a first-come, first-served basis. If you wish, you may certainly request a roommate who is also part of the Transitions Program. Both you and the prospective roommate will be asked to fill out a housing request form indicating your request.

  8. 8. Can I work and be part of the program?
Students may work up to 10 hours/week and be a member of this program.

  9. 9. What is the deadline for applying?
Friday, April 1, 2005, is the deadline for applying to the Transitions Program for the first summer session and Friday, June 3, 2005, is the deadline for the second summer session.

  10. 10. Who comprise the staff?
    Permanent year round staff includes:
    • Stephanie C. Reynolds, Director, Transitions
    • Liz Kohler, Administrative Secretary
    • Melissa Byrd, Computer Consultant
    • TBA, Graduate Assistant
    • Amy Zavada, Graduate Assistant
Summer staff includes three Residence Directors, ten RAs, ten personal coaches and approximately 8 - 10 learning specialists.
